The Musical Baton – James’s’s Response

I sent the Musical Baton (LINK?) to the 5 on my list, and here’s another response. This is from James, who I really must stop ribbing about being better off than me. He writes…

I’m not into the ole questionhairy thing but seeing as I blatantly have nothing better to do at 11:41 on a Sunday night ere goes…

1. The person (or persons) who passed the baton to you.
The man Petty who still accuses me of being dreadfully middle class. Bleedin Marxist.

[MJP notes: Oh shut it, Thatcher. If you’re middle class then I must be a guttersnipe. Don’t answer that. Hey, let’s stop this. Surely we can get on without the slanging match? Look, I forgive you, OK?]

2. Total volume of music files on your computer.
I’ve been pumping away at my cd collection for a while and have subsequently acquired near on 19GBs of music. No where near as much as Mr Gargrave who needs an entire media server for his little lot.

[MJP notes: Blimey – all just as a backup, of course]

3. The title and artist of the last CD you bought.
The Dresden Dolls. Wonderful punk cabaret. Has been the only cd in my car for weeks.

[MJP notes: Sounds good – I’ll post a link if you send me one]

4. Song playing at the moment of writing.
A track my brother has laid down for a short film I made last year. Dark, atmospheric and slightly wicked.

[MJP notes: THE PUBLIC DEMANDS AN MP3 EXCERPT!]

5. Five songs you have been listening to of late (or all-time favourites, or particularly personally meaningful songs)

  • Tom Jones Delilah. Every passionate Welshman has the lyrics tattooed within easy slur.
  • Right Said Fred, I’m too sexy for my shirt. I broke up from my first long term girlfriend whilst listening to this. She wasn’t that upset. Maybe it was my dreadful taste in late 80’s pop.
  • Metalica, Master of puppets. I actively learnt the words so could sing them loudly in every mosh pit in Cardiff.
  •   Frank S, Someday. Always gets the ladeeeez. Ahem.
  •   Any John Williams soundtrack. I get the cinema rush even when I’m not at the cinema when I listen to dum dum dum dum daaaa dum of any open bar.

[MJP notes: hehehe, there’s curds and there’s wey, and there’s James.]

6. The five people to whom you will ‘pass the musical baton’
Well they’re attached and I’m curious as to what they will say…

  • Julia Boggio – the fiance
  • Matt Derbyshire – the brother
  • Aubs Tredget – the partner
  • Kristen McGorry – the actress
  • Ian Ward – the actor

[MJP notes: I look forward too – send the results to me!]

Cheers James – see you on the big day, if not before! Preferably before.
